What are the parts of the Integumentary system?

The integumentary system consists of the skin, hair, and nails all performing essential functions for the body.

SKIN

The skin is the largest organ in the body.
  • THE EPIDERMIS-upper layer of skin that contains keratin.
  • THE DERMIS- which is the lower layer of skin that is made up mostly of fiber and collagen.
  • SUBCANTENOUS TISSUE- connective tissue that is made up mainly of blood vessels and cells. This tissue  protects the body from injuries.

HAIR

The hair is located around the eyes, ears, and the mouth. It's job is to keep dust, insects, and other unwanted things out of your body.

NAILS

Even though they can be decorated with various styles, they are very important to the health of your body.

Your nails also keep unwanted things out of your body and form hard nail roots.
